The unemployment rate in France inched up to 7.2% in the second quarter of 2023 from 7.1% in Q1 2022, and the highest since Q3 2022, as the number of unemployed people increased by 20K to 2.2M.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for people aged 15-24 edged up by 0.1 points to 16.7%. On the other hand, the unemployment rate was up 0.1% for people aged 25-49 to 6.5%, while those for people aged 50 or more rose slightly to 5.2%.
Among genders, the jobless rate for women increased by 0.3 points to 7.1%, while those for men decreased by 0.2 points to 7.2%. Meanwhile, the activity was stable at 73.9%.
