- Goodyear ( NASDAQ: GT ) has joined forces with defense & aerospace firm Lockheed Martin ( NYSE: LMT ) to commercialize lunar mobility.
- Lockheed Martin is currently developing a lunar mobility vehicle that will be used to support NASA's Artemis program. NASA plans to explore Moon through its Artemis missions, with the first woman and first person of color expected to touchdown on the lunar south pole by 2025.
- Goodyear ( GT ), which has previously collaborated with NASA during the Apollo program, has continued innovating to advance designs for a lunar vehicle tire.
- The tire maker is drawing from its advanced airless tire technology used on Earth to advance lunar mobility and withstand the challenging conditions on the Moon. The companies are also applying existing expertise to the project including testing concepts in lunar soil test beds.
