The Howard Hughes Corporation (NYSE: HHC) is a company that was spun off from General Growth Properties in 2010 (Source: HHC History). It was originally created through the acquisition of undeveloped land purchased by early 20th century businessman Howard Hughes. Hughes was the son of Howard Robard Hughes Sr, the inventor of the two-cone rotary drill bit which eventually led (through numerous other acquisitions and mergers) to the company known today as Baker Hughes (BHGE) (now owned by General Electric (GE))
