- IMAX ( NYSE: IMAX ) recorded $7M box office sales across its China network on Sunday, representing its second-best opening day ever for the Chinese New Year holiday.
- Generating $6M on the opening day, China Film Group's "The Wandering Earth 2" led the way. IMAX opening day box office for the sci-fi blockbuster was nearly double the opening day haul for its predecessor.
- The results were further amplified with the success of a trio of films, including "Full River Red, children's animated film "Deep Sea" and WWII espionage thriller "Hidden Blade."
- Disney/Lightstorm's "Avatar: The Way of Water" is also expected to continue its successful run in China. The firm has already become the second highest grossing IMAX film in China with more than $50M box office sales.
