- IonQ ( IONQ ) said Thursday it will work with European airplane producer Airbus to explore how quantum computing technologies could be used in the airline industry.
- Specifically, IonQ ( IONQ ) and Airbus will spend 12 months working on a prototype quantum application to be used in loading cargo on aircraft. Airbus will also explore using quantum computing in order to improve other aspects of air travel such as reducing fuel consumption and improving airplane aerodynamics.
- The new partnership comes on the heels of IonQ ( IONQ ) reporting upbeat second-quarter results, and giving a positive forecast for sales and bookings for its third quarter earlier this week .
