The U.S. International Trade Commission ruled in favor of iRobot ( NASDAQ: IRBT ) with a decision to ban imports of SharkNinja that infringe on a patent owned by the maker of Roomba products.
The full commission upheld part of a trade judge's initial decision in October that SharkNinja violated two of IRBT's patents pertaining to the Roomba consumer robot. The determination was that SharkNinja's devices mimicked iRobot navigation technology.
The Biden administration has 60 days to review the import ban before it takes effect, although no reversal is anticipated.
Shares of iRobot ( IRBT ) were unchanged in premarket trading on Wednesday. The consumer products stock is down 9.21% on a year-to-date basis as investors continue to weigh the potential that the FTC could sue to block Amazon deal.
