Liberty Braves Group ( NASDAQ: BATRA ), the owner of the Atlanta Braves MLB team, rose 3% amid a positive mention from famed investor Mario Gabelli.
Gamco Investors Chairman & CEO Gabelli sees the Liberty Braves as a potential takeover target, highlighting how the NFL'S Washington Commanders, MLB's Washington Nationals, MLB's Los Angeles Angels are all up for sale, he said in an interview earlier Wednesday on CNBC. He also pointed out that the NFL's Denver Broncos just sold for a "good price."
"I think you are going to see somebody step up and buy" the Atlanta Braves, Gabelli told the business network. "You are going to make 50% in a year or two."
Gamco is one of Liberty Braves ( BATRA ) biggest holders with a 6.2% stake as of the end of September.
In November Liberty Media announced it's set to split off the Atlanta Braves and associated real estate development project, and then create a new Liberty Live Group tracking stock.
