Popeyes, owned by parent company Restaurant Brands International Inc. (NYSE: QSR) , is on track to expand its business throughout 2022. The chain intends to open more than 200 new restaurants in the United States and Canada this year, it announced Tuesday. Furthermore, Popeyes will also open locations in other countries such as South Korea, India, China, and the United Kingdom.
“Of the restaurants in the 2022 pipeline in the U.S. and around the world, over 50% of restaurants in the 2022 pipeline include double drive-thrus to serve increased traffic, boost speed of service and ultimately further enhance the guest experience,” a company spokesperson said.
Efficient drive-thru times are of utmost importance to the fast-food chain. According to the company, fast service can incentivize loyalty just as much as delayed service can cause customers to steer towards competitors. Additionally, tech improvements are set to be integrated into Popeyes’ Kitchens as a means of helping workers execute their tasks in a prompter manner.
“Popeyes is one of the fastest-growing brands within RBI, particularly as it relates to building new restaurants,” Popeyes president Sami Siddiqui told CNN Business. “The majority of growth is expected in the US and Canada, where the business has accelerated substantially.”
