Introduction
Yesterday’s trading session brought another reminder of how detached markets can become from reality, especially when discussing “quantum” concepts. Investors seem to love the word. Quantum Corporation ( QMCO ), a company that has nothing to do with actual quantum computing, jumped into double digits after rumors spread that the U.S. government might take equity stakes in “key quantum players.” IonQ, Inc. ( IONQ ), D-Wave Quantum Inc. ( QBTS ), Rigetti Computing, Inc. ( RGTI ), Arqit Quantum Inc. ( ARQQ ), Quantum Computing Inc. ( QUBT ), and Quantum Corporation have all suddenly surged. And I could understand some of them flying, but QMCO has nothing to do with it....
