Index provider S&P Dow Jones Indices, a division of S&P Global ( NYSE: SPGI ), has expanded its offering in Brazil with the debut of two new fixed income indices for the country's domestic corporate bond market , the company said Thursday.
The series of indices, launched in partnership with Brazilian exchange B3, include the S&P/B3 Brazil IPCA Corporate Bond Index and the S&P/B3 Brazil Liquid IPCA Corporate Bond Index, a gauge of local currency domestic debentures linked to the Índice Nacional de Preços ao Consumidor Amplo.
The bond indices were designed to "offer broad coverage of the IPCA-linked debenture market, providing institutional investors with objective benchmarks which they can use to measure and execute their market views," said Frans Scheepers, head of fixed income, Currency and Commodity Products at S&P DJI.
The S&P/B3 Brazil Liquid IPCA Corporate Bond Index, a capitalization-weighted index, uses the prior three months to determine eligible debentures based on trading volume, which must have a median value traded of BRL 100,000 (US$20,354).
In January, S&P Global enhanced flagship data, analytics platform with new country risk scores.
