Sinclair Broadcast Group ( NASDAQ: SBGI ) is officially launching its sports streaming service Sept. 26.
Bally Sports+ will roll out across all of the 19 Bally Sports regional sports network brands then, Sinclair's Diamond Sports Group announced. June had seen an introductory soft launch in five regions .
The service is initially available to subscribers for $19.99 per month, or $189.99 per year, with a seven-day free trial.
It's offering access to live local NBA and NHL broadcasts, pregame and postgame shows, regional programming (including college football and basketball, and high school sports) as well as shows The Rally and Live on the Line.
Sinclair Broadcast formed its regional sports stable by taking on the former Fox regional sports networks as part of Walt Disney's purchase of Fox media assets.
"We view Bally Sports+ as a great complement to the incredible value our distribution partners provide our linear networks; and with both models, we are uniquely positioned to help our team partners grow their fan bases for years to come," said Sinclair Broadcast Group CEO Chris Ripley.
Plans at Sinclair for a streaming service picked up steam in late 2021 after securing a creditor agreement bringing $600M in new capital as well as a new rights deal with the NBA. Early this year, the company set up upbeat projections for its service, suggesting it would draw at least 309,000 paying subscribers by year end, and up to close to a million in the bullish scenario .
