Singapore Airlines Group ( OTCPK:SINGY ) ( OTCPK:SINGF ) on Tuesday said it had canceled orders for eight 737-8 passenger jets from Boeing ( NYSE: BA ).
The carrier also said it had changed an order for three 787-9 widebody planes to the bigger 787-10 configuration.
"These adjustments are in line with the group’s long-term fleet renewal strategy, and support its projected operational requirements," Singapore Airlines disclosed in a statement about its first-quarter results. "Following these adjustments, the group currently has 100 aircraft in its order book."
The carrier last month took delivery of a Boeing ( BA ) 787-10.
In March, it received an A350-900 from European aircraft maker Airbus ( OTCPK:EADSY ) ( OTCPK:EADSF ). Singapore Airlines ( OTCPK:SINGY ) ( OTCPK:SINGF ) ended the quarter with 188 passenger aircraft and seven freighters.
Its revenue more than doubled to 17.78 billion Singapore dollars for the year ended March 31. Its net fuel cost after hedging also more than doubled to 5.21 billion Singapore dollars. The airline swung from a loss of 962 million Singapore dollars to a profit of 2.16 billion Singapore dollars.
