Starbucks ( NASDAQ: SBUX ) is still battling union officials over the company's response to some stores looking to unionize.
A new complaint from the Starbucks Workers United labor group alleges the Seattle company of illegally refusing to collectively bargain at 144 sites.
Starbucks ( SBUX ) has maintained over the last year that it is negotiating fairly. "We will continue to negotiate in good faith, stated former CEO Howard Schultz in Senate testimony last month.
While Starbucks Workers United has won elections at 300 of SBUX's roughly 9Kcorporate-run U.S. cafes, none of the locations have secured a collective bargaining agreement yet.
The National Labor Relations Board is seeking an injunction bid to prevent certain actions by Starbucks ( SBUX ).
Shares of Starbucks ( SBUX ) gained 1.55% in early trading on Wednesday and are up more than 4% over the last week after strong earnings report from McDonald's ( MCD ), Coca-Cola ( KO ) and PepsiCo ( PEP ) helped to boost sentiment on consumer spending trends.
