- Like the late 1990s, Technology and tech-adjacent sectors have been the only sectors outperforming the S&P 500.
- In the 2000-2002 bear market, all sectors outside of Tech and Communications had positive total returns until just a few months before the bear market ended.
- The Real Estate "sector" never went negative while traditional defensives Consumer Staples, Healthcare, and Financials held up relatively well.
- I apply lessons from that period to look at some quality companies that should still hold up well in a future tech-led downturn.
