As Wall Street approaches the midpoint of 2023, many mid-cap stocks have provided investors with sizable returns. Of the roughly 1,000 mid-cap stocks available for investors, 101 of them have returned 50% or more since the end of 2022. This includes several rallies of more than 100% and one name that has returned over 400%.
"Large-cap equities have outperformed mid-cap equities recently, but a long-term outlook suggests diversification with mid-cap firms is beneficial," Seeking Alpha analyst RidgeHaven Capital said of the outlook for the mid-cap field.
Fellow SA analyst Ploutos Investing noted : "Mid-cap stocks appear to be an area that is often overlooked, as it only represents about 10% of the total U.S. market."
Also supporting mid-caps is Wells Fargo , which stated: "We prefer mid-cap growth to small caps long term because they are less levered, have better access to capital, and are not as reliant on an economic recovery for EPS growth."
