Japanese automakers Toyota Motor Corporation ( NYSE: TM ), Suzuki Motor Corporation ( OTCPK:SZKMY ), and Daihatsu Motor Co. plan to unveil prototype mini-commercial van electric vehicles equipped with a jointly developed BEV system at a carbon neutrality exhibition event scheduled from May 18 to May 21. Development is currently underway with the aim of creating a vehicle that can fully meet the needs of customers in the delivery industry.
The exhibition event aimed at carbon neutrality will be organized by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association along with the G7 Hiroshima Summit.
The three automakers jointly developed a battery electric vehicle system suitable for mini-commercial vehicles by taking Suzuki and Daihatsu’s expertise in creating small-size cars and combining it with Toyota’s ( TM ) electrification technology. The new system will be used in a mini-commercial van BEV produced by Daihatsu, while Daihatsu. Each of the automakers will release their own branded version during fiscal 2023. The cruising range per charge for the vehicle is expected to be approximately 124 miles.
