Tyson Foods ( NYSE: TSN ) plans to reduce its corporate headcount by 10% of corporate jobs and senior leadership ranks by 15%, per a memo seen by Reuters .
The memo from CEO Donnie King indicates that affected employees will be notified by week’s end. As of the close of the company’s most recent fiscal year, the company boasts about 118,000 employees in the US, 6,000 of which are corporate staff. The Reuters report added that vice presidents and senior vice presidents are the senior positions on the chopping block.
The latest layoffs come after the company consolidated corporate operations and trimmed about 1,700 roles at poultry plants in recent months. Workers at the shuttered plants recently announced protests .
