The United States plans to announce it will spend $1.3 billion on military aid for Ukraine, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing two U.S. officials familiar with the matter.
The weapons package, which wasn’t previously reported, includes the Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment, or VAMPIRE, an air-defense system from L3Harris Technologies ( NYSE: LHX ).
In addition to ammunition and anti-drone systems, the U.S. will supply unmanned aircraft such as the Phoenix Ghost drone made by closely held Avevex and the Switchblade made by AeroVironment ( NASDAQ: AVAV ).
The Biden administration will use funds from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative ( USAI ) program to buy weapons from manufacturers instead of taking them from the country’s weapon stockpiles, Reuters reported.
