- Annual inflation rate in the UK unexpectedly edged higher to 10.4% in February of 2023 from 10.1% in January, the first increase in four months and compared to forecasts of 9.9% and increasing pressure on the Bank of England to raise interest.
- Core CPI - which excludes energy, food, alcohol and tobacco and is watched closed by the BoE - rose to 6.2% from 5.8% in January, versus a forecast decline to 5.7%.
- Compared to January, the CPI jumped 1.1%, the biggest rise in four months.
- The Bank of England is due to announce on Thursday whether it has raised interest rates for an 11th meeting in a row.
