United Airlines ( NASDAQ: UAL ) noted a delay in expected Boeing ( BA ) deliveries in a 10-Q filing released on Thursday evening.
According to the filing, Boeing has notified United that 37 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2023 will be pushed to 2024. United estimates that 11 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2023 will now arrive in 2024 and 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2024 will be delivered in 2025.
“Furthermore, Boeing recently notified United that due to a manufacturing process issue relating to certain Boeing 737 MAX fuselages, six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2023…will be delayed,” the quarterly disclosure states. “Boeing may inform United that additional Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2023 may be delayed and/or that certain Boeing 737 MAX aircraft currently expected to be delivered in 2023 may deliver in 2024. However, at this time, we do not expect these delays to be extensive or to have a significant impact on our capacity plan for 2023.”
Details of the specific manufacturing flaw were not provided. United Airlines ( UAL ) stock edged lower in Thursday’s extended session.
