- Mexican low-cost airline Volaris ( NYSE: VLRS ) on Tuesday said demand, measured in revenue passenger miles, increased 17.1% Y/Y to 2.81B for May.
- Passenger demand in the domestic Mexican and international markets rose 7.1% and 44.8%, respectively.
- Volaris' capacity, measured in available seat miles, rose 21.6% Y/Y to 3.32B.
- Load factor for May rose to 84.5% from 87.8% a year ago.
- The airline transported 2.8M passengers in May, a 11.1% Y/Y increase.
- Enrique Beltranena, Volaris' President and CEO, remarked: "We are proud to have recently launched 40 new routes, successfully connecting underserved cities with leisure and bus-switching routes, further solidifying Volaris' leading position in the domestic market; notably, 33 of these new routes have no air competition."
