Czech automaker Škoda Auto, a part of the Volkswagen Group ( OTCPK:VWAGY ), is looking to expand its EV lineup to six vehicles in coming years.
The Mlada Boleslav-based automaker unveiled a “first glimpse” at new generations of its SUV and hatchback while highlighting plans to release six new BEV models by 2026 at a press event taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday.The new all-electric models will be categorized into “small”, “compact”, “combi” and “space” categories.
In addition to the planned rollout of new EV models in coming years, CEO Klaus Zellmer highlighted the hybrid and EV options for existing vehicles’ new generation editions.
“Over the course of the transition phase to e-mobility, models with modern and highly efficient internal combustion engines and plug-in hybrid powertrains will continue to be a mainstay of Škoda’s model portfolio,” the company stated. “With the new generations of the Superb and Kodiaq, the refreshed Octavia, Kamiq and Scala as well as the new BEV models, Škoda will soon offer the most diverse portfolio in its history: combining the best of both worlds and offering customers in different markets the right Škoda for every taste and requirement.”
Elsewhere, the Czech automaker touted the visit of Prime Minister Petr Fiala to Vietnam in order to support efforts in expanding market share into Southeast Asia.
Frankfurt-listed shares of Volkswagen ( OTCPK:VWAGY ) rose 0.6% in the afternoon session.
