- "Quality" is a term much bandied about in the CEF space without a clear definition as to what qualifies as a "quality fund"
- We suggest two dimensions of quality: CEF outperformance relative to its sector and open-end fund alternatives as well as good governance features.
- We also highlight a number of funds that feature some good governance characteristics such as CMU, JPI, and DCF.
- While there are no guarantees in investing, tilting towards CEFs with these features should both drive outperformance as well as protect shareholder interest.
- All of these quality characteristics go into our investment approach that informs our Income Portfolio suite.
