If you have followed my work closely, you know that I am a value investor with a contrarian streak. One of the challenges of value investing is that, in the short run, it can underperform investing in growth plays. In the long run, however, I don't think that's true. And the data that I have seen in the past confirms that. Having said that, one of the most difficult things for an ardent value investor is that we often underestimate how much upside a high-growth play can experience in the near term. When growth is astounding, the market often pays a hefty premium for that. And sometimes, that premium can become stratospheric in nature....
