Amprius Technologis, Inc. (AMPX) currently shows a meaningful performance gap vs. the competition for defense applications. It is no secret to anyone who hasn't been in a coma the last 15 years that the battery and EV revolution has been powered by Lithium-Ion batteries; and more specifically Graphite-anode Li-ion. These batteries can today be manufactured relatively cheaply by giants such as CATL, Panasonic Holdings Corporation (PCRFY), LG Energy Solution, or Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd. However, graphite anode batteries suffer from two main drawbacks when considering them for (Western) defense end-use : they offer a limited energy density (meaning a large size/weight for a given power capacity), and China has a chokehold on the entire graphite battery supply chain, with 80 to 90+% market share and the ability to impose export controls across the value chain....
