Angkor Resources' Enercam Makes Advances in Preparation for Seismic
(TheNewswire)
GRANDE PRAIRIE, ALBERTA – TheNewswire - (April 23, 2025): ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP.(TSXV: ANK) (“ANGKOR” OR “THE COMPANY”) announces the onshore oil and gas team for its energysubsidiary, EnerCam Resources (Cambodia) Co. Ltd. (“EnerCam”)advances the programing steps for the 2-D seismic program on BlockVIII as part of the first onshore oil and gas well to be drilled inCambodia.
Joint Review Committee
The Production Sharing Contract includes specificconditions that were established to move the project forward, two ofwhich require that:
EnerCam and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) wereto establish a joint review committee to meet regularly on all facetsof the planned and executed exploration activities. Four membersfrom EnerCam and four members of MME have now formed a joint committeewith Mike Weeks and Keith Edwards representing EnerCam with MadsBraemer and Delayne Weeks being alternates.
Any contacts in excess of US$500,000 will include thesubmission and comparison of the bids to the joint committee plus theselected winning bidder for the contract for the approval fromMME.
The seismic program cost will be well in excess of theUS$500,000 threshold.
Because the terms of the PSC only allow on-groundexploration after the EIA is complete and approved, the initialscoping survey was undertaken using existing reconnaissance data previously acquired by EnerCam whenresearching Block VIII. Combining the locations of surface seeps, topographical maps, in-house geological reports, Google Earth, andother tools allowed the layout and plan for 350-line kilometer seismic(shown in the map above). This work was completed concurrentlywhile the independent environmental contractors complete theEnvironmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
Wherever possible, the seismic will be shot onestablished roadways or existing trails to minimize the activityfootprint.
A seismic scoping outline identifies first, theexisting roadways on which seismic will be shot, second the land areasthat are cleared with some form of vegetation, third the forestedareas that are yet undeveloped, and fourth all bridges, waterways, andnatural environmental elements.
Like other jurisdictions, if Enercam’s seismicprogram passes over private land, EnerCam contacts each landowner forprior permission and provides education about the process andexpectations. In the event where the project will venture off theroad and onto producing cropland, then EnerCam ensures the landowneris compensated for any damages.
The pathways for the seismic shall include deep levelUXO (unexploded ordinance) clearance as a proactive measure, so anyroads, intended trails, or paths for the seismic lines shall be safelycleared before equipment is allowed.
Mike Weeks, President of EnerCam comments on the steps,“These are similar practices that we have undertaken for the past 13years on the mineral licenses. We maintain high safety standards atall times. Although most of the areas through which we travel andcomplete seismic have already had deep clearance completed on theroads and land, we will manage UXO clearance on any areas that areremote. “
The seismic will only begin when both the Ministry ofEnvironment and MME approve the EIA on Block VIII, which has beenunderway across over 3700 square kilometres since mid March.
