Despite rallying strongly from its April lows, Atlantic Union Bankshares (AUB) hasn't quite recovered the losses it sustained earlier in the year. That has left the shares of this Virginia-based bank around 5% lighter so far in 2025 - a performance that is roughly 13 points worse than the wider regional bank space. What's been weighing on AUB this year? It's impossible to say for sure, but a combination of high commercial real estate ('CRE') concentration, M&A, and concerns about the possible impact of government spending cuts would be my guess....
