The Doubleline Opportunistic Credit Fund ( DBL ) is a closed-end fund, or CEF, that income-oriented investors may choose to purchase in an attempt to earn a very high level of income from the money that they have already acquired and are seeking to invest. As is the case with many closed-end funds, the DoubleLine Opportunistic Credit Fund provides its investors with a higher level of income than do any of the major domestic or global fixed-income indices. We can see this in the simple fact that this fund’s yield is significantly higher than any of its yields. As of the time of writing, the DoubleLine Opportunistic Credit Fund has an 8.71% distribution yield. Here is how that compares to the yields of the major domestic and global bond indices:
Index/ETF | TTM Yield |
Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Bond Index ( AGG ) | 3.83% |
Bloomberg High Yield Very Liquid Index ( JNK ) | 6.55% |
Vanguard Total World Bond ETF ( BNDW ) | 4.02% |
Vanguard Total International Bond Index Fund ETF Shares ( BNDX ) | 4.31% |
J.P. Morgan EMBI Global Core Index ( EMB ) | 5.19% |
