Shares of Brazilian digital payment solutions and bank PagSeguro Digital Ltd. ( PAGS ) have dropped some 85% since reaching an all-time high of $62.83 in early 2021, flipping valuation metrics. The factors are manifold, including slowing growth, inflation, devaluation of the real versus the U.S. dollar, and increasing competition, especially in the form of the Brazilian Central Bank app, Pix. Still growing its top line in local currency, leveraging Pix into additional banking business, declaring its first dividend in May, and aggressively buying back shares, this busted IPO merited a deeper dive.
