SPYI: A 12% Yield Derived From S&P Equities? Do Tell!

My thesis today rests on the fact that the NEOS S&P 500 High Income ETF ( SPYI ) might not look like an ideal income vehicle despite the 11.8 percent TTM yield, but I would rate it a Buy for investors with a specific goal of generating tax-efficient returns in a market that has been moving sideways since November 2025, but also in a volatile manner. As a matter of fact, I would even go so far as to suggest that this fund can preserve one's capital in a novel fashion, so it affords that level of capital preservation. Not protection, mind you, but simply a unique way to offset capital gains, benefit from capital losses, and exploit market volatility....
