Core & Main: Performance In Q3 Was Impressive, All Things Considered, But With Limited Upside

To be honest with you, I was a little surprised on December 9th. Shares of Core & Main ( CNM ), a company that focuses on the distribution of pipes, valves, fittings, storm drainage products, fire protection products, and the like, rose by 2.1%. What I was surprised by, however, was the fact that the stock didn't rise more than that. Lately, the business has come under pressure. In fact, since I last reaffirmed it as a ‘hold’ candidate back in August of this year, shares have dropped 20.2%. This is at a time when the S&P 500 is up 6.3%....
