COLO: Political And Economic Headwinds Appear Problematic

While much of the focus of the national media in the US has been centered on rising tensions in Venezuela, things are not much more amicable with the government in Colombia. Last week, the US designated a Colombian drug cartel as a foreign terrorist organization . In October, the US announced it was cutting funding to the South American country, referring to its leader as a facilitator for the distribution of illegal drugs. There will be an election for a new leader in Colombia on March 8, and that could set the tone for the future of relations with the US, at least until our current president’s term ends in three years....
