Community Trust Bancorp: Balance Sheet Dynamics Drive Strong Growth

2025 is shaping up to be a decent year for Kentucky-based Community Trust Bancorp (NASDAQ: CTBI ). Its net interest margin is expanding, the balance sheet is growing and, for now at least, asset quality remains resilient. All of that has contributed to a solid first-half performance for the bank, with its earnings growing over 20% year-on-year. The stock has been a little more quiet, returning a sector-average ~5% since my last update in March. Still, that isn't bad in itself - and besides, "average" is not how you would describe this bank's longer-term performance, with the shares registering over 50ppt of outperformance this past decade....
