Uranium's Hottest Address Just Got a New Visitor and Results Are Turning Heads

The race for high grade uranium in Canada's Athabasca Basin is intensifying as energy security concerns and the global nuclear renaissance push explorers deeper into one of the world's most prolific uranium jurisdictions. The eastern Athabasca region of Saskatchewan has become ground zero for discovery stage activity, where proximity to existing high-grade deposits can transform an exploration result from interesting to extraordinary overnight.

Shares of Cosa Resources Corp. ( TSX-V: COSA ) ( OTCQB: COSAF ) are advancing Tuesday after the company reported that its first winter 2026 drill hole at the Murphy Lake North Project has intersected 5.0 meters of anomalous radioactivity reaching up to 13,900 counts per second, a result that has investors paying close attention to this joint venture operated alongside Denison Mines Corp ( TSX: DML ) ( NYSE American: DNN ).

Murphy Lake North sits just 3 kilometers east of IsoEnergy's Hurricane deposit, the world's highest grade indicated uranium resource, in the eastern Athabasca Basin. Cosa operates the project and holds a 70% interest, with Denison carrying the remaining 30%. The joint venture was established as part of a transformative 2025 strategic collaboration that gave Cosa access to several highly prospective eastern Athabasca uranium exploration projects, with Denison becoming the company's largest shareholder.

Drill hole MLN26-013 targeted a 1.2-kilometer gap in the Cyclone trend where no previous drilling had been conducted. The hole intersected broad zones of moderately to strongly altered sandstone before hitting the unconformity at approximately 299 meters. The anomalous radioactivity was encountered in the upper basement between 306.5 and 313.5 meters, with a continuous 5.0-metrer interval from 308.5 to 313.5 meters, including a 2.5-meter sub-interval grading above 5,000 cps and a 0.5-meter peak reaching 13,900 cps. Core recovery through the mineralized zone was 100%.

CEO Keith Bodnarchuk called the intersection "an exceptional result," citing the shallow depth, proximity to existing infrastructure, and the team's established history in the area as factors that elevate its significance. VP of Exploration Andy Carmichael noted that mineralization, structure, and alteration remain open in all directions, with the nearest drilling 600 meters away along strike in both directions.

With chemical assays from MLN26-013 still pending and the company pivoting its remaining winter program to immediately follow up the discovery zone, the next several weeks could prove pivotal. Cosa's treasury is described as healthy, and with Denison's backing, the company says it is positioned to aggressively drill test Murphy Lake North throughout 2026.

Shares of COSA are ahead 15.0% to C$0.46, while shares of COSAF are ahead 15.5% to $0.3327 in early afternoon Tuesday trading.
