FFA: This Fund Looks Decent, But Tech Exposure Hurts Diversification
2025-07-21 04:07:34 ET
The First Trust Enhanced Equity Income Fund ( FFA ) is a closed-end fund that tries to provide its investors with a very high level of current income. The fund does fairly well at this, particularly for an equity fund, as it boasts a 6.74% yield at the current share price. While this may not seem like much, especially when compared to the double-digit yields sported by some closed-end junk bond funds, it is much higher than any of the broad-market domestic equity indices. We can see that in this comparison chart:
Index/ETF | Current Yield |
S&P 500 Index ( SPY ) | 1.14% |
NASDAQ 100 Index ( QQQ ) | 0.50% |
Russell 2000 Index ( IWM ) | 1.12% |
Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DIA ) | 1.52% |
