The Eaton Vance Tax-Advantaged Global Dividend Opportunities Fund ( ETO ) is a closed-end fund, or CEF, that provides a way for investors to earn a fairly attractive income from a globally diversified portfolio of equity securities. As the name of the fund suggests, the Eaton Vance Tax-Advantaged Global Dividend Opportunities Fund aims to generate the income that it pays out to its investors through methods that result in lower rates of income taxation than ordinary closed-end funds. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that this fund is actually doing anything differently than other equity closed-end funds; it is simply that not all funds advertise that they are using specific strategies to reduce the income taxes that their investors owe on the distributions that they receive from the fund.
