Overview

During periods of market volatility and uncertainty, income funds like the Cohen & Steers Closed-End Opportunity Fund ( FOF ) can serve as an efficient hedge against the downside. However, the debt markets have faced their own set of unique headwinds with interest rates remaining at the higher end of their historical range. The elevated cost of debt has created an elevated risk for some income funds due to the potential threat of defaults. However, I believe that FOF was dragged down alongside the rest of the debt markets, despite the fund's greater diversity in equity and commodity funds. When I previously covered FOF, I issued a buy rating due to the fund's resilience.
