Robinhood's ( HOOD ) launch of a venture-focused closed-end fund ("CEF") with a concentrated tech-heavy portfolio caps its evolution from a zero-commission stock brokerage to a full-fledged electronic trading platform with wealth, asset management, and credit product offerings. Robinhood Ventures Fund I ( RVI ) is set to start trading on the NYSE on the 6th of March and is currently invested in just seven companies. Critically, its largest three positions form at 51.77% of the CEF , this is Databricks at 23.34%, Revolut at 14.30%, and Mercor at 14.23%. However, the CEF holds around 20% of its assets in cash and cash equivalents, which could see the composition of its top three positions change if this is deployed to new investments. The CEF currently employs no leverage, but has stated in its prospectus that it reserves the right to issue debt in an amount up to 33.3% of its total assets.
