U.S. equity markets were broadly lower this week as a renewed surge in global bond yields halted the unrelenting rally, with investors increasingly concerned that central banks may be forced back into tightening mode to contain mounting inflation pressures. President Trump’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping produced no clear breakthrough toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz or pressuring Tehran, leaving the Iran conflict in a continued stalemate that rippled through energy markets and kept oil-supply concerns elevated. Oil jumped more than 10% to around $105/barrel as the Iran stalemate deepened concerns over global energy supply disruptions.
