Markel: A Berkshire-Like Compounder Trading At A Discount

In December 2024, I published my last article about Markel Group Inc. ( MKL ) and in my conclusion, I was cautious about buying the business – like I was cautious about buying any financial company at this point. In the conclusion I wrote:

I certainly made mistakes in the past and turned too cautious too early. I have to admit that I was too cautious about several businesses and there were some companies that could have still been bought in the last two years (sometimes rather cheap). And while this was a mistake, I don’t think it is a mistake to proceed with caution into the next few years and avoid financial companies like Markel.
