U.S. equity markets fell for a fifth-straight week - pulling several major benchmarks into correction territory - as the Iran conflict remained locked in a volatile stalemate, keeping energy markets on edge and inflation risks in focus. The fourth week of the Iran conflict brought little meaningful progress toward de-escalation after a brief window of optimism early in the week, as Washington and its allies maintained strikes on Iranian nuclear and industrial sites while Tehran continued retaliatory attacks across the Persian Gulf. Tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz increased modestly this week after collapsing earlier in the conflict, though flows remain sharply below normal levels.
