Axalta: Underwhelming Results, An Equally Underwhelming Potential Merger

For a company that I had thought was making progress, Axalta Coating Systems Ltd.’s ( AXTA ) performance since my last update has been disappointing. Weakness in the company’s served end markets certainly hasn’t helped, but I expected more from this company. More disappointing still was management’s decision to enter into what was effectively a no-premium merger with a lackluster player (Akzo Nobel (AKZOY)) where synergies could well disappoint....
