Despite A Bumpy Road Ahead, AutoNation Makes For A Good Ride

One of my better calls over the last several years now has been automotive retailer AutoNation, Inc. ( AN ). Admittedly, since I reaffirmed my Buy rating on the stock in April of this year, shares are up only 20.8% at a time when the S&P 500 (SP500) is up 23.9%. But since I first turned bullish on AN way back in July of 2015, the stock has jumped 251.6%. That's above the 229.6% rise that the S&P 500 has seen over the same window of time. Even after that huge move higher, the stock is cheap on both an absolute basis and, to some extent, relative to other firms similar to it....
