Intel Has A New Problem

As discussed in my previous coverage on Intel Corporation ( INTC ), its lack of execution consistency remains the biggest Achilles’ heel to its turnaround strategy over the past several years. Despite the stock’s more than 81% upsurge since Lip-Bu Tan assumed the role of CEO last year, much of the upside has been driven by external validation rather than tangible operational progress. This includes an unprecedented $8.9 billion investment made by the U.S. government in August, which translated into an approximately 10% stake in the company; a subsequent $2 billion investment by SoftBank Group Corp. ( SFTBY )( SFTBF )( SOBKY ); and a $5 billion investment by AI darling NVIDIA Corporation ( NVDA ) in September, complemented by a strategic collaboration on next-generation PC and data center processors. Yet the high-profile investments from industry partners and favourable policy support from the U.S. government have yet to translate into tangible follow-up results in Intel’s core operations....
