President Donald Trump just called for a $1.5 trillion defense budget in fiscal year 2027 as a drive toward achieving a "dream military" that he hopes will deter potential adversaries’ aggression and keep the peace. This is an objectively enormous outlay in and of itself, but it also represents rapid spending growth for the U.S. military, as it is 50% higher than this year’s already record military budget and represents a near 75% increase from the defense budget in President Joe Biden’s final year in office....
