The trial of former U.S. President Donald Trump in Georgia, concerning allegations of election interference, is set to be aired live on Alphabet Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) video streaming platform YouTube, as per the judge presiding over the case.
What Happened: The live broadcast of the trial was confirmed by Judge Scott McAfee last Thursday, as reported by Rolling Stone. Shortly before this announcement, Trump entered a plea of not guilty to the state racketeering and accompanying charges. These charges pertain to attempts by Trump and his 18 co-defendants to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.
Last week, Trump was formally charged with a felony in Atlanta, marking his fourth arrest this year. This is the first instance of a U.S. president having their mugshot taken.
Georgia is set to provide a unique look into Trump’s several criminal proceedings. The remaining three cases Trump is currently facing, in New York, Washington, D.C., and Florida, have all prohibited cameras within the courthouse.
