The Nasdaq 100, comprising 100 of the biggest non-financial tech stocks, fell 2.94% Wednesday to mark its worst day since 2022. Semiconductor stocks are pulling back as investors digest several recent developments, including the possible expansion of export restrictions to China, ASML Holding NV‘s (NASDAQ:ASML) earnings release and comments from former President Trump regarding Taiwan.
ASML led semiconductors lower Wednesday as its shares fell more than 12% after the company reported second-quarter numbers lower than the same period in the previous year and guided quarterly gross margin in the range of 50% to 51% versus expectations of 51.1%.
