Amazon ( NASDAQ: AMZN ) will reportedly use a different rocket from the United Launch Alliance, a joint venture between Boeing ( NYSE: BA ) and Lockheed Martin ( NYSE: LMT ) to launch its internet satellites next month than originally planned.
The U.S. tech giant will launch the two prototype satellites via an Atlas V rocket on September 26 instead of the ULA's Vulcan rocket, an Amazon spokesperson told Reuters .
The Vulcan rocket was expected to launch earlier this year, but it has experienced testing delays, forcing Amazon ( AMZN ) to switch rockets.
The satellite launch is part of Amazon's ( AMZN ) Project Kuiper initiative to bring internet service to Earth.
Amazon ( AMZN ) initially said the first satellites from its Project Kuiper Internet effort would launch in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Amazon ( AMZN ) shares rose 1.4% in late-day trading on Monday.
