GOOGL - Apple pulls plug on Parler app following Google
Apple (AAPL) has pulled the Parler app from its App Store - the latest move in a social media battle that has shaped up in the few days since supporters of President Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol. After yesterday warning Parler - a preferred social network for conservatives and Trump supporters unhappy with alternatives in Twitter (TWTR), Google ([[GOOG]], [[GOOGL]]) and Facebook (FB) - Apple gave Parler 24 hours to moderate its content or be removed. Apple says Parler is allowing too many posts that encourage violence and crimes. Google also removed the Parler app from its Play Store.
