NVDA - Awaiting Nvidia deal approval Arm launches new autonomous chip designs
Amr, the chip unit being sold to Nvidia ([[NVDA]] +1.0%) by SoftBank ([[SFTBF]],[[SFTBY]]), announces new computing solutions "to accelerate autonomous decision-making with safety capability across automotive and industrial applications."The solutions include the Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU, Arm Mali-G78AE GPU, and Arm Mali-C71AE image signal processor. The Cortex-A78AE includes the company's new hybrid mode which allows the cores to run independently in split mode (meets low safety requirements) or in lock mode, which carries higher security but slows down performance. Arm says this CPU offers a 30% performance uplift compared to the prior model.Mali-G78AE offers flexible partitioning with up to four fully independent partitions for workload separation for safety -critical autonomous applications, like keeping instrument monitoring running separately from driver monitoring.Mali-C71AE supports human and machine applications, like production line monitoring or ADAS camera systems, and support for four real-time cameras and 16 buffered cameras."As autonomous decision-making becomes more pervasive, Arm has designed a unique suite of
